A different physics class
![]() |
Bree Barnett just shared her amazing pictures of a class of “Light Traces” with us. Her photos are a stunning combination of art and physics experiments. The beautiful lines of light carry a full description of the physical motion (translation and rotation) of the object as it moved through space in one single image. Click on the photo to see more.
She and her students used LED lights to visualize experiments on kinetics. By taking long-exposure pictures of moving objects with lights they manage to visualize the path of motion.
“Light Traces” is a hands-on teaching activity that was developed by Sebastian Martin, inspired by Light Painting from the PIE group.
