We now have 6 new Singer sewing machines. The machines were used in the Swap-O-Rama-Rama at Maker Faire and then donated to us. We’re so happy to have them!
Nicole did an impromptu skill swap yesterday, showing us how they worked in preparation for a workshop on Saturday. There are some new and amazing upgrades from the machine I’m used to working on (a sweet old Elna that belonged to my mother).
(1) Automatic needle threader
(2) Endless variety of stitch patterns at the push of a button
(3) A name that guarantees interesting projects to come….all it takes is a little “Confidence”
I think we were doubly inspired by the fact that Paul Nosa uses a Singer too. Although when we tried taking off the foot and going freeform our sketches looked more like messy stitches. We’re in awe of his fluency on that machine.
