R.I.P. cardboard

Sadly, all good things must come to an end. And so it is that on Monday we had to tear down the month-long installation that the brilliant folks from the Cardboard Institute of Technology built and animated in the Tinkering Studio.

Surprisingly, the hardest part was not to take the cardboard out of the space, but figuring out what to do with it! After compacting it in “bales”, we had to find an enterprising cardboard scavenger and convince him to come pick up the amazing bounty we were offering.

And, as you’ll see in the timelapse and photos, we couldn’t help but keep Fluffy, the three-headed dog we’ve come to love and cherish.

Cardboard everywhere! The museum floor filled up with debris from the installation, which we had to package into manageable “bales”

CIT made us a thank you card! In cardboard, of course…

How sad! Thanks for sharing this whole process–it looked amazing.

Yes, looks so fun! Reminds me of Liz Glynn’s project Building Rome in a Day:

Totally, and I wish we could have involved the museum public in the destruction of the cardboard environment, not just in its construction. Although some visitors definitely tested its solidity at times…
