Today we’re going to try power tool jack-o-lantern carving on the floor in the Tinkering Studio from 12:00 to as long as the pumpkins last. I’m sure visitors will make some amazing creations and hopefully will have as much fun as we did making these examples.

Nicole’s franken-pumpkin moves around the table when a switch is pulled, turning on an offset motor glued in the back.

Luigi drew an intricate circuit pattern with a dremel and stuck a switch in the side of his gourd to turn the LEDs inside on and off
Ryoko first made a traditional jack-o-lantern, then added polka dots with a dremel, and finally used a cricket computer to make a light change color and the top shake up and down.

How cute! I’ve carved small pumpkins with regular carving tools before and it was absolutely ridiculous trying to get intricate. Now I see, I just need to get a bit more “high-tech” for future carving parties. Haha! Great post…
Please do! And then send us photos, we’d love to see what you come up with.
