On Saturday, we had our first full-day workshop in the new learning studio with a group of high school explainers who will be spending extra time with us in the tinkering studio throughout this semester. In the morning, we took them through a marble machine workshop and in the afternoon we split into three groups and showed them how to use soldering irons, hot glue guns, and wood working tools. We’ll be working closely with this group throughout the spring, engaging them in activities as learners before they facilitate on the floor and having discussions about teaching and learning in the tinkering studio. It was lots of fun to fill the space with explainers experiencing firsthand the laughter, frustration, and joy of tinkering. Check out the slideshow of our first workshop in the new space.
